چکیده: قرن جدید امواج تازه ای از تغییر را با خود به همراه آورده است.محیط پیرامون سازمانها پویاتر از قبل شده و باعث گردیده تا سازمانها در پی یافتن پاسخهایی برای این پویایی ها باشند برای موفقیت و حتی بقا در چنین محیطی ضروری است سازمانها به سمت انعطاف پذیری، پویایی و تحول حرکت نموده و از سکون بپرهیزند (جمشیدیان و یزدان شناس، 1387).مدیریت و رهبری ساکن و بیتحرک نمیتواند مدت زیادی به طول انجامد، موج یا آن را غرق میکند و یا کشتی این مدیریت و رهبری، در گل فرو رفته باقی میماند و بالاخره دیدگاههای بسیاری از نظریه پردازان دیگر مانند تافلر و کوبست نیز حاکی از آن است که سازمانهای امروزی نمی توانند روند و سرعت تغییرات را متوقف سازند،بلکه تنها میتوانند تردیدها، نوسانات و بی ثباتیها را به فرصتهایی برای آموختن، تطابق و همخوانی مطلوب تبدیل کنند. جهت مقابله با این محیط نامطمئن و تغییرات مستمر، نیازبه افرادی درنقش رهبربشدت احساس می شود. بدیهی است که رهبری سنتی در هزاره سوم ادامه حیات نخواهد یافت و جهان نیازمند رهبرانی تحول گرا خواهد بود. رهبری تحول گرا به عنوان یکی از پارادایم های رهبری در روان شناسی سازمانی است که مورد تحقیق گسترده ی رضایت زیردستان قرار گرفته است (انصاری و تیموری، 1385)
